I knew I had to revisit chuao again because they have some unique flavors that I really wanted to share 🙂 The one I’m mainly excited to get to is that third bar in the picture above 😉
First of all, I want to point out that each piece of the bar has a word on it. They’re cute, playful, and positive! Some of them say “giggle”, “desire”, “silky”, “woo”, and others.
Strawberry Waffle Wild – milk chocolate, waffle and strawberry bits.
I loved smelling this bar 🙂 It’s so sweet! My favorite breakfast is Belgian waffles with syrup and strawberries on top, so this reminded me of that. In a ways, the sweet smell also reminded me of the cream filling in Cadbury eggs 😀 After inhaling the bar for a while, I finally tried it. I tasted the milk chocolate first, followed by the strawberries flavor, and I got an immediate pleasant crunch from the waffles and strawberries. I think on the flavor spectrum the strawberries were strongest followed by the milk chocolate and waffle. I would have eaten the entire thing if I didn’t have two other bars to try first 😉
Potato Chip – milk chocolate, crunchy bits of kettle potato chips and sea salt.
The smell of this bar was salty with a little bit of oil from the potato chips. It was a pleasant smell, though and the chips aroma was not overwhelming at all. This bar had a sharper crunch compared to the strawberry waffle bar, and I tasted the milk chocolate first as well followed by the sea salt and potato chips. You know, sometimes I crave a nice bag of chips that I just want to plop down with and eat the entire thing in one sitting. And many times I’m simply craving some milk chocolate. This combines the best of both! If you crave potato chips and chocolate too, try this out! Don’t let the combination weird you out because it’s a great way to branch out your chocolate palate 🙂
Firecracker – dark chocolate, sea salt, chipotle and popping candy!!!
This one I’m super excited to talk about because sometimes I like to prank people with this chocolate 😉 It looks so unassuming, like it’s just a dark chocolate bar with sea salt and maybe some bits of nuts inside, right? But there’s a hidden surprise inside! I smell the dark chocolate and a hint of the sea salt and chipotle. Bite into the chocolate and you immediately know something is up because it crunches in a way you don’t expect. Already Fourth of July is happening in my mouth with mini pops from the candy followed by the slow burn of chipotle 🙂 Yeah, that’s how I’d describe this chocolate! July is a hot month anyway and we celebrate with fireworks. There’s something you could use for advertising this chocolate, chuao!! The fun thing about this bar is that even after you’ve consumed the chocolate, the popping continues in the aftertaste 😀 I also want to point out that in the ingredients list, two types of chile were used! Chipotle chile and pasilla chile.
I can’t say I have a favorite out of the three because all of them are unique and fun in their own way 🙂 They’re all great stepping stones in branching out your chocolate palate if you’re wanting to try something out of the ordinary without diving too deep into whacky sounding combinations. Seriously, if you see chuao, grab a bar or two and try them out!
